Caring About Our Communities!
“It has always been important to the Vickar Automotive Group that our dealerships are built with the idea of community. What does that mean? Well, to us, it means giving back to the community, locally, nationally, and indeed internationally. We are proud to partner with great organizations, large and small, who lend a helping hand in the community in which we live and do business.”
Main Street Project’s Vision, Mission & Guiding Principles:
“Main Street Project provides a safe place of respite, shelter, and support, with dignity and without judgment to individuals in our community experiencing homelessness and addiction. We advocate for a more inclusive society and assist marginalized individuals in making real choices in their lives.
Our vision is that every individual has a safe place to be and the right to self-determination.
We help hold communities by supporting people living with addictions, chronic and acute illness, housing, and mental health issues – our guiding principles. By addressing these principles in each individual journey, we contribute to the overall quality of life of our community members.” They have a total of 120 beds emergency shelter to provide for the marginalized community and a bathroom for Men, women, and non-binary.
A Match Made from Caring for Others!
Main Street Project Executive Director Jamil Mahmood and Anastasia Ziprick, MSP Director of Development, reached out to Larry Vickar, President of Vickar Automotive Group and well-known philanthropist, seeking help when their fleet of vehicles started showing their age and began breaking down. Larry and a few key personnel came down and were shown the organization and the work and outreach that is provided and needed, on a daily basis. Out of that one meeting and tour, a plan was forged for the Vickar Automotive Group to provide 3 vans and a complete maintenance package for the vehicles.
These vans are essential to bringing food and warm clothing to the marginalized homeless and for much-needed transportation to bring them to a warm and safe place to sleep, 24/7/365. They are used in their outreach programs, as well as for collecting much-needed items for donations such as mitts, gloves, scarves, hand warmers, treats.
Vickar Group Employee Social Club has set up bins in all of their dealerships across the city to help raise awareness and to collect some much-needed items to donate over the holiday season.
Team members are also lining up to volunteer their time in the shelter, not only giving of good but of “sweat equity”.
Vickar Automotive Group, with the guidance of Larry and Tova Vickar, and embraced by the hundreds of team members in the group, give of themselves, to the betterment of their community, locally and internationally…. people helping people.
